More FIS fun...during school and after!

Picking Strawberries
Pre-K and Kindergarten took a field trip together to a strawberry farm.  We had a great time eating and eating and eating strawberries as we picked.  Andrew's friend, Jayla, visiting from Toronto, came with us to help out.  We both brought back a huge box of strawberries for the boys.  We all ate lunch and played at a nearby park.  It was a bittersweet day as we bid farewell to Reina and Taiki who both left FIS for a Japanese school.  FYI...Japanese strawberries are THE BEST...seriously!

FIS Hanami
Hanami means "flower viewing."  The Japanese take that seriously when sakura (cherry blossoms) season comes along.  They put out blue tarps and have parties under the cherry trees.  FIS had a school wide hanami at a local park.  Elementary went early and played for a while and then we all ate lunch together under the cherry blossoms.  Unfortunately it rained at the end just when the upper school was arriving.  Great idea!  Hope for better weather next year!

Elementary Egg Hunt
We decorated bags for the Easter Egg Hunt.  We dyed Easter Eggs with Dad and Beth.  That was a HUGE hit!  The kids were wound up all day long and so excited about the egg hunt.  The time finally came.  Each child Pre-K thru Grade 2 was allowed to find 20 eggs.  There was a staggered start.  Pre-K...K...1...2...and then 3-5 were allowed to run and get all of the rest of the eggs.  There were 3 special eggs.  Kids could win 1 of 2 special Easter baskets.  The third special egg was the Golden Egg, meaning it had 500 yen (a little more than $5.00; a gold coin).  It was WELL hidden by our Head of Elementary.  They hunted for a LONG time with hints and finally Gi found it buried under sand!

Momochi Beach
It decided to warm up for a day a few weeks ago so a small group of us (Jenny, Dan, Brian, Hiromi, Sonja) decided to head on over to Momochi Beach for a few drinks.  So nice to have the beach so close by!  Can't wait 'til it gets out of the 50s and 60s for good so we can go regularly!
